The Relationship between Tensile Strength and Rockwell is a very close approximate. The figures above are based on an average of laboratory tests and meant to serve as a guide.

15 N Scale is recommended for thicknesses from .007 to .014 inch; the 30N Scale is used for .015 to .024 inch; and the C Scale for thicknesses .025 inch and thicker.

The High, Low and Medium values are suggestions to achieve certain “torque”, “spring power” and “memory.” Technical discussions are invited to determine exact requirements for various uses.
